lennylamb.com makes babywearing wraps and carriers. Every item it sells carries a circoola passport — not a pilot, not a mockup, running in production today.
What's on the item
Each physical item carries an identifier — an NFC tag or a barcode — that resolves to one page for that specific item, not the product line. The page carries composition, size, weight, production date and serial number, set by the maker at production time.
What happens as it changes hands
Owner, keeper and custodian are recorded separately, each with the dates they held the item. Handing an item to a new owner — through resale, loan or gift — adds an entry to the record instead of overwriting it. The item's history stays with the item, not with whoever currently has it.
Why this matters beyond one brand
This is the same shape of problem the EU's Digital Product Passport is built to solve at the regulatory level: item-level identity, verifiable origin, a record that survives resale. lennylamb.com didn't build this because a law required it — it built it because item-level traceability is useful on its own, for returns, authenticity, and resale trust. The regulation is converging on infrastructure that already works.
